2012 Season Opener

This weekend's first WERA event marks our first race weekend this year, and in quite awhile. We will be traveling to Grattan Raceway and hoping for good weather and a nice start to the season. In missing last year's regional schedule, we did at least miss a lot of the cold and wet weather that plagued many of the events. It's rarely fun riding in the cold, or in conditions that go back and forth between wet and dry. Hopefully this year will be a little more consistent from what people have been saying.
I'm looking forward to being back on track and racing. I'm excited, nervous and have an overall mix of emotions. In the last few months, I've tried to prepare physically for riding the bike, more so than ever and overall, trying to minimize the limitations that still exist from the wrist. We'll see how it goes and with the bike ready to go, I'm just looking forward to breathing in the track air, scented with the smell of fresh tire rubber and intoxicating race gas fumes. I've missed it and I'm looking forward to being back out there again.
Also for those who haven't heard, our long-time friend and crew member Doug had some pretty serious back surgery last week. It was his third surgery and while the surgery went well, the road to recovery is long and it has pretty much taken away his plans for racing a full season this year – something he was really looking forward to. Here's to seeing him back out there soon after a full recovery.
Cheers,
Eddie
