Representing at the AMA Mid-Ohio
Team Challenge

In addition to the AMA/WERA races at Mid-Ohio in a few weeks (see the countdown on the left for the exact number of days left), part of the events include a Team Challenge.  Each organization in attendance (WERA, CCS, CMRA, CRA, etc.) selects a team to represent their organization.  I was fortunate enough to be selected to represent WERA, along with Charlie Coleman and Dave (Grey) in our region.  I don't know Charlie that well, but Dave, Garry and the rest of their team are top notch and great to hang out with.

Each rider's top finish goes towards the "team total".  Essentially at the end of the weekend, the team with the most points wins.  There are some further details, but that's basically what it's about.  The AMA provides some nice perks to each team such as special parking passes, team press releases and some other things I don't know about yet.  WERA also helps cover some of the travel expenses involved which is very cool.

The Team Challenge has become bigger within the past couple years.  I was on the WERA Regional team in 2004 and was able to contribute a win to the team, but it wasn't as big of a deal back then.  This year it seems that both the AMA and WERA have put a greater emphasis on the team concept that the Team Challenge entails.  Overall it's another cool part of the Mid-Ohio weekend.
