Saturday Recap Courtesy of the Holiday

Back online here in the room after a good Middleweight Solo 20 race.  Practice started well this morning where James made some suspension changes to help soak up some of Nelson's character "bumps" and give the front end a more planted feeling.  We've got a little work to do as the rear end is hopping around a bit, but we've got a game plan for practice tomorrow which hopefully will yield faster times.

For the race, I was somehow gridded on the front row, so I was a bit apprehensive of that at first.  After a red flagged start and restart shortly thereafter, I got the holeshot into turn 1 and had the lead through about turn 4, where Brent (Bennett) came by me.  I stayed behind him for the next 2-3 laps in 2nd place, which I think surprised everyone including myself.  A few more bikes came by me, but I was solidly in 5th at about the halfway point, dropping the mid-low 1:12's lap times, which was the fastest I've gone around Nelson Ledges thus far.

After about 12 laps, I started to drop off and make some mistakes.  A few more bikes went by, a couple others crashed, and I ended up finishing 7th which was my best finish in the 600 class thus far.

So four sprint races tomorrow and I'm hoping to at least get into the 11's, if not 10's before the day is over.  Some fresh rubber and warm weather forecasts for tomorrow should help out.  More updates to come ..

Thanks for reading ..
